— Definition of a Village
Bahasa IndonesiaDesa adalah desa dan desa adat atau yang disebut dengan nama lain, yaitu kesatuan masyarakat hukum yang memiliki batas wilayah yang berwenang untuk mengatur dan mengurus urusan pemerintahan dan kepentingan masyarakat setempat berdasarkan prakarsa masyarakat, hak asal usul, dan/atau hak tradisional yang diakui dan dihormati dalam sistem pemerintahan Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia.
English (British)A village (including a customary village or one called by another name) is a community of law with territorial boundaries, authorised to regulate and manage governmental affairs and the interests of the local community based on community initiative, rights of origin and/or traditional rights recognised and respected within the system of government of the Republic of Indonesia.

— Aims of Village Regulation
Bahasa IndonesiaPengaturan Desa bertujuan antara lain memberikan pengakuan dan penghormatan atas Desa yang sudah ada; memberikan kejelasan status dan kepastian hukum atas Desa; melestarikan dan memajukan adat, tradisi, dan budaya masyarakat Desa; serta meningkatkan pelayanan publik bagi warga masyarakat Desa.
English (British)Village regulation aims, among other things, to recognise and respect existing villages; to provide clarity of status and legal certainty for villages; to preserve and advance the customs, traditions and culture of village communities; and to improve public services for villagers.

— Sources of Village Revenue
Bahasa Indonesia(1) Pendapatan Desa bersumber dari: a. pendapatan asli Desa; b. alokasi Anggaran Pendapatan dan Belanja Negara; c. bagian dari hasil pajak daerah dan retribusi daerah Kabupaten/Kota; d. alokasi dana Desa dari perimbangan keuangan pusat dan daerah; e. bantuan keuangan dari APBD Provinsi dan Kabupaten/Kota; serta f. hibah dan sumbangan yang tidak mengikat.
