— Definition of a Political Party
Bahasa IndonesiaPartai Politik adalah organisasi yang bersifat nasional dan dibentuk oleh sekelompok warga negara Indonesia secara sukarela atas dasar kesamaan kehendak dan cita-cita untuk memperjuangkan dan membela kepentingan politik anggota, masyarakat, bangsa dan negara, serta memelihara keutuhan Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia berdasarkan Pancasila dan Undang-Undang Dasar Negara Republik Indonesia Tahun 1945.
English (British)A political party is a national organisation formed voluntarily by a group of Indonesian citizens on the basis of a shared will and ideals to pursue and defend the political interests of members, society, the nation and the State, and to preserve the unity of the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.

— Aims of a Political Party
Bahasa Indonesia(1) Tujuan umum Partai Politik adalah: a. mewujudkan cita-cita nasional bangsa Indonesia sebagaimana dimaksud dalam Pembukaan UUD 1945; b. menjaga dan memelihara keutuhan Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia; c. mengembangkan kehidupan demokrasi berdasarkan Pancasila; dan d. mewujudkan kesejahteraan bagi seluruh rakyat Indonesia.
English (British)(1) The general aims of a political party are: a. to realise the national ideals set out in the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution; b. to safeguard the unity of the Republic of Indonesia; c. to develop democratic life based on Pancasila; and d. to achieve the welfare of all the Indonesian people.

— Functions of a Political Party
Bahasa Indonesia(1) Partai Politik berfungsi sebagai sarana pendidikan politik; penciptaan iklim yang kondusif bagi persatuan dan kesatuan bangsa; penyerap, penghimpun, dan penyalur aspirasi politik masyarakat; partisipasi politik warga negara; dan rekrutmen politik dalam proses pengisian jabatan politik melalui mekanisme demokrasi.
English (British)(1) A political party functions as a means of political education; of creating a climate conducive to national unity; of absorbing, gathering and channelling the people's political aspirations; of citizens' political participation; and of political recruitment in filling political office through democratic mechanisms.
