— Definition of Forest Destruction
Bahasa IndonesiaPerusakan hutan adalah proses, cara, atau perbuatan merusak hutan melalui kegiatan pembalakan liar, penggunaan kawasan hutan tanpa izin, atau penggunaan izin yang bertentangan dengan maksud dan tujuan pemberian izin di dalam kawasan hutan yang telah ditetapkan.
English (British)Forest destruction is the process, means or act of damaging forests through illegal logging, the use of forest areas without a permit, or the use of a permit contrary to the purpose for which it was granted within a designated forest area.
Tujuan
Bahasa IndonesiaPencegahan dan pemberantasan perusakan hutan bertujuan antara lain menjamin kepastian hukum dan memberikan efek jera bagi pelaku perusakan hutan; menjamin keberadaan hutan secara berkelanjutan; serta mengoptimalkan pengelolaan dan pemanfaatan hasil hutan secara adil dan bertanggung jawab.
English (British)The prevention and eradication of forest destruction aims, among other things, to ensure legal certainty and a deterrent effect on offenders; to secure the sustainable existence of forests; and to optimise the fair and responsible management and use of forest products.

— Prohibition of Illegal Logging
Bahasa IndonesiaSetiap orang dilarang antara lain melakukan penebangan pohon dalam kawasan hutan tanpa memiliki izin yang dikeluarkan oleh pejabat yang berwenang; serta memuat, membongkar, mengeluarkan, mengangkut, menguasai, dan/atau memiliki hasil hutan kayu yang tidak dilengkapi secara bersama-sama surat keterangan sahnya hasil hutan.
English (British)Everyone is prohibited, among other things, from felling trees in a forest area without a permit issued by the competent official; and from loading, unloading, removing, transporting, controlling and/or possessing timber forest products not accompanied by valid proof of legality.
