Article 1
— The Child and Diversion
Bahasa IndonesiaAnak yang Berkonflik dengan Hukum yang selanjutnya disebut Anak adalah anak yang telah berumur 12 (dua belas) tahun, tetapi belum berumur 18 (delapan belas) tahun yang diduga melakukan tindak pidana. Diversi adalah pengalihan penyelesaian perkara Anak dari proses peradilan pidana ke proses di luar peradilan pidana.
English (British)A child in conflict with the law (the 'Child') is a child who is at least 12 (twelve) but not yet 18 (eighteen) years old who is suspected of committing an offence. Diversion is the transfer of the settlement of a child's case from the criminal-justice process to a process outside it.

— Rights of the Child in the Process
Bahasa IndonesiaSetiap Anak dalam proses peradilan pidana berhak antara lain diperlakukan secara manusiawi dengan memperhatikan kebutuhan sesuai dengan umurnya; dipisahkan dari orang dewasa; memperoleh bantuan hukum dan bantuan lain secara efektif; serta tidak dipublikasikan identitasnya.
English (British)Every child in the criminal-justice process has the right, among others, to humane treatment appropriate to their age; to be separated from adults; to effective legal and other assistance; and to have their identity withheld from publication.

— Obligation to Attempt Diversion
Bahasa Indonesia(1) Pada tingkat penyidikan, penuntutan, dan pemeriksaan perkara Anak di pengadilan negeri wajib diupayakan Diversi.
