Ketentuan Umum

Article 1 — Definition of Cultural Heritage

Cagar Budaya adalah warisan budaya bersifat kebendaan berupa Benda, Bangunan, Struktur, Situs, dan Kawasan Cagar Budaya di darat dan/atau di air yang perlu dilestarikan keberadaannya karena memiliki nilai penting bagi sejarah, ilmu pengetahuan, pendidikan, agama, dan/atau kebudayaan melalui proses penetapan.

Cultural heritage is tangible cultural inheritance in the form of heritage objects, buildings, structures, sites and areas, on land and/or in water, whose existence needs to be preserved because of its importance to history, science, education, religion and/or culture, through a process of designation.

Tujuan

Article 3 — Aims of Preservation

Pelestarian Cagar Budaya bertujuan antara lain melestarikan warisan budaya bangsa dan warisan umat manusia; meningkatkan harkat dan martabat bangsa; memperkuat kepribadian bangsa; serta memanfaatkan Cagar Budaya untuk kesejahteraan rakyat.

The preservation of cultural heritage aims, among other things, to preserve the nation's and humanity's cultural inheritance; to raise the dignity of the nation; to strengthen national identity; and to use cultural heritage for the people's welfare.

Kriteria

Article 5 — Criteria for Cultural Heritage

Benda, bangunan, atau struktur dapat diusulkan sebagai Cagar Budaya apabila memenuhi kriteria: berusia 50 (lima puluh) tahun atau lebih; mewakili masa gaya paling singkat berusia 50 (lima puluh) tahun; memiliki arti khusus bagi sejarah, ilmu pengetahuan, pendidikan, agama, dan/atau kebudayaan; dan memiliki nilai budaya bagi penguatan kepribadian bangsa.

An object, building or structure may be proposed as cultural heritage if it: is 50 (fifty) years old or more; represents a stylistic period at least 50 (fifty) years old; has special significance for history, science, education, religion and/or culture; and has cultural value for strengthening national identity.
